Does anyone have any reliable online resource for Colt serial number information? Let me explain, I picked up a colt 1911 frame and the serial number begins with "FG". I'd like to know what that means, what type of pistol this was at one time, date of mfg and etc. I contacted Colt, but they want $$ before they will share any history on the piece.
Any help is appreciated.
