I remember when Springfield first started marketing the XD9. I turned up my nose in disgust to the lost shelf space for Springfields real pistols, the 1911's, and walked off.
About 6 months later while at the range a friend rented an XD9. He couldn't even get me to touch it.
I mean come on a firearm from Croatia? Yeah right. Real guns come form the US or Germany. I'll be damned if I am going to throw some high priced Eastern Europian rattle trap in the my safe with the quality guns I own.
So finally we have concealed carry in Ohio(Even if I can only legally carry in my home with all the bi-laws.) I go out and buy a micro 45 Springfield shoot horribly with it and start fretting over the fact I only have 6 rounds without a reload. After working on the trigger barrel and my finger it's ok.
The wife decides she wants her permit also. (God love her) So we go out and rent every compact we don't have, and take the ones we do. When I mean every I mean every one at the range for rent revolver or auto. I rent at $5 a gun. I spent $50 in rental fees. (That's ten guns for those of you from Toledo.)
Well she likes how the XD9 sub-compact shoots the best. So I try the little Croatian rattle trap myself.
We bought 2 XD9 subbies that day.
I shot the center out of the National Target CO.'s B-34 silhoutte at 25 feet.
Rapid fire there is never anything outside the 7 ring at 7 feet.
I love this little gun. There hasn't been a day since it's purchase that it hasn't been on my hip. That was 5 months ago.
