Hi everyone -

I confess....I went over to "the Dark Side" and bought one of those "other X_ .40 pistols"....my bad  (and had to sell that for $$ reasons)

But, after finding the necessary resources once again, I just completed the purchase of a new XDm  - what an incredible feel in the hand!!! What incredible engineering!!! Yahoo!!!!

So....please forgive my wandering ways, and give me the straight scoop on:

Trigger mods (always prefered a lighter trigger...3.5 - 4 lb) - who does them, and what am I looking at cost wise if I make that decision?

Kydex Belt Holsters options that'll keep that puppy tight into my waist for concealed carry, when I choose?

Sources of extra mag's in case the dreaded "you know what" happens in a couple weeks...

Ammo suggestions for potential "close quarters" and of course

Sight recommendations - again, for quick target acquisition within 25 yards...

Thanks much...it's SO nice to be back home1;-)

Good choice, the XDm, is my first XD. Oh and welcom from Seattle WA.

As far as your questions...

The trigger mods I believe can be done by...
Rich at Canyon Creek Custom - Firearms for the Sportsman
Scott at Welcome to Springer Precision LLC - The XD/XDM Specialists and
Daniel at Powder River Precision

Of the kydex holsters, I know you can get an Outside the Waist Band from Blade Tech holsters, knives and tactical gear for military, law enforcement, shooting competition and hunting. or IWB is probably possible, but you might have to wait. I think others have mentioned the Serpa holsters may work.

Extra magazines I've picked up from Scott at springerprecision.com as well as PISTOLGEAR | YOUR ONE-STOP SHOP FOR ALL THINGS PISTOL, XDguys.com - your XDesires suppliers and GilbertsGuns.com - Saiga 12 Gauge Shotgun, Saiga Tri Rail Forearm, Federal XM193 223 Ammo.
I think you can also get them directly from Springfield Armory.

Ammunition I've used has been mainly handloads and I have not run any defensive rounds through it yet. Of the handloads that I've fed my XDm, it has eaten all of it from the slow moving 720 fps to the hotter 920 fps ammo I use for USPSA. A shot a match a couple of weekends ago with a friend who used his XDm with the hotter ammo and he did not have any jams and was using the hotter ammo flying at over 915 fps. Very controlable.

As far a sights, that I believe is personal preference for most, but I know Scott at Springer precision has recommended the Dawson Fiber optic front and adjustable rear and has also mentioned that any sight combo that works on the standard XD should work on the XDm. If you are thinking specifically for self defense use, I prefer the dot over dot set up using tritium liek the Heinie Straight Eight night sights.

It was just as a I hoped, many of the dealers I noted are starting to get in more products to support the XDm giving us more choices as time goes by.

Enjoy your new XDm.
