First off I have to say that this forum and the people who contribute to it is/are amazing. I have learned so much and it made my decision easy to get an XD. The only had part was deciding to get an XD 9 or an XDM 9. As the title shows I choose the XDM.

Well I went out and put 250 rounds through it. All went through flawlessly. However, after I cleaned it I noticed the end of the barrel had what looked like a couple scratches or chips at the end? I am assuming it is not really that and just the black coating wearing off on the end, but wanted to turn to the experts too feel more assured. I am new to guns in general, so I just want to make sure all is ok. Thanks in advance for the help.

Normal. that is gas trying to squirt past the bullet as it exits. they all do that. at least all rifled barrels will have them spaced out marks at the rifling grooves.

BTW welcome to the forum.
