So...

I've decided that I want a piston driven 5.56 rifle in my stable.

I seriously considered MR556's, but...I don't like paying an extra $500 for the "H", and another $500 for the "K" (they thrown the "&" in for free...;)). POF's have my interest...but...damn carrier tilt. Same for Ruger, or the conversions.

Everything I've read about PWS's, though...I like. And they're accurate...which, from what I've sen, the SCAR isn't, so much.

However:

My mantra has been, all along--if you want a piston-driven rifle, get one that was designed to be a piston driven rifle.

Which the SCAR is.

So...whattya'll think.

There are some good piston kits on the market now. DD, cmmg, spikes, bcm, RRA............. Runing between $300 & $600 it might be worth taking an AR your not using and put an aftermarket kit on it. Just a thout. Google AR-15 gas piston kits and see what comes up.

I have been thinking the same things. I still like the modularity of the AR platform with the options of add-ons. The upside to the Scar is you don't have the buffer tube so the stock will fold out of the way. However this also causes the main part of the gun being the action to be heavier and bulkier.

From what I understand, the added benefit of having a folding stock far outweighs (pun intended) the balance shift, which I also understand to be very minimal. The biggest problem I've heard from people is the reciprocating charging handle, and its lack of being ambidextrous (which they are fixing) getting in the way of optics mounts.

The only times my rifle didn't fire when I pulled the trigger were when the ammo didn't fire. Other than that, my SR556 has never had a stoppage to anything but the round not firing, and is more accurate than I could've hoped for. If I went back into the service and overseas I'd rather carry that than my service rifle.

Pass on lwrci, seems m4carbine people are having problems with them. Addox tactical is supposed to have addressed the common carrier tilt issues found in most others. Haha but a scar is on your list. So uh, scar. Pws is getting great reviews lately.

Hummm we didn't have any issues with the LWRC we were using. Couple hundred rounds semi auto supressed and unsupressed. Then swapped a full auto colt lower on it ran 200-300 rounds supressed thru it. But it was fun making the supressor glow...

ok good...i was thinking you took "gun porn" to a whole new level hahaha

but i thought LWRC made one of the best piston AR platforms out there, and i was under the impression LWRC did design their rifle around the piston?
