I have started shooting USPSA with my XD 40. I have only shot two matches so far and I have been shooting in Production division.

I was wanting some opinions on advantages/disadvantages to shooting in Production or L10. I know guys may be shooting with lighter trigger pulls in L10, but I would be getting the benefit of shooting in major class. When I look at where my shots generally hit, having the higher point hits of major looks like it would benefit me.

So, what do you think, is it better to shoot in Production with a 40 cal. handgun, or shoulg I step up to L10?

Thanks,

Glad to have you in "The Game". Well, not to be over simplistic. But, if your .40 is a 4" service model I'd stick with production. Shoot in L10 if your using the 5" Tactical. Yep, "A" hits are pretty much required in production, so you got to gear back the speed some. Keep in mind that you'll always be at or very near the top of the leader board in production division due to the lighter turn out :)

I shoot in the production division because there are a lot less guys shooting. I would love to be able to shoot major with my XD40, but in the end being able to duke it out with all of the other new guys seem like more fun to me. I just ordered a XD9 tactical which I plan to use for production next year, and then I will have my XD40 to use in the Limited 10 division. First I need to have it sent out and have it tuned up a bit.
