While I was shooting the other day I was holding my XD40 with a straight thumbs grip aproach. During the course of rapid fire the slide locked opena and I made some observations and realized that I can't grip the gun in quite that way because what was happening was that my right thumb was resting on the slide release and had locked the slide open.
Since then I have adjusted my grip to fix that problem, but have occasionally gone back to my old grip and the problem has presented itself again.
I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else or if you have any suggestions. I know that on a 1911 the slide lock lever is farther foward so it's almost impossible to have that problem.
Thanks
Jp
