Powder River's new trigger

Just installed a new trigger from PRP. It has material on the back of the trigger that functions as an OT stop and the geometry is changed slightly to givea little quicker reset. I put mine in my XD 45 and it fit perfectly without even taking off any material!

I had left the old OT stop in to see if I could reduce the OT with this new method, and it does. The best thing about it for a DIY is that you can fit the OT stop without disassembling more than once.

Did you simply punch out the pin that holds the trigger and trigger safety? I installed a Powder River kit on my XD 9 SC but didn't change out the trigger because I was afraid of hurting the pin if I tried to punch it out.

Yeah, the pin just pushes out, but it takes some force. Tight bugger. The pin on mine didn't get damaged and I had to take it apart several times to adjust the safety lever.

That trigger is cool. Very simple fix. But, it's not on the PRP web site that I can find :(

Use the smallest punch(1/16 I think) and give it a good whack and it should slide out.I didn't have to remove it completely...,just enough to remove the stock safety trigger and replace it with the PRP trigger. The pin is strong and be careful not to lose that small spring. After the install, you'll notice zero movement of your triggers until the safety trigger is depress!

It will be listed soon but we haven't released it yet. It will be released as part of our ultimate line of xd/xdm trigger kits, hopefully with in the next two weeks. Gunnbugg was part of our bate test and was not supposed to let the cat out of the bag until we were ready to release it.

Fortunately we have all the patents filed and are about to wrap things up. So here is a sneak peak.

PRP Ultimate Trigger Kit

The kit features:
PRP OTS trigger assembly (including the installed PRP trigger safety)
PRP striker safety lever
PRP sear (with patented sear angle)
PRP reduced power trigger and sear springs

The benefits are:
PRP OTS trigger: Light weight tough blended polymer trigger for ultra fast trigger reset. A patented integral over travel stop that is intuitive to fit and does not add torque to the trigger bar pin.

PRP striker safety lever: Made of tough billet machined S7 tool steel. It removes most of the pre-travel and shortens reset with out retarding the timing of the striker safety system.

PRP sear: Made of tough billet machined S7 tool steel. It has a patented release angle that lowers the trigger pull weight and gives a crisp break by minimizing the camming action of the striker. It is completely vibratory polished using the same proprietary method as our polished striker.

PRP reduced power trigger and sear spring:
The lighter springs are used to further lighten the trigger pull.

The target pull weight with the kit properly installed is about 3.5-4 lbs. It reduced trigger travel by about 1/2 or more depending on what model xd/xdm you have. It gives an amazingly short, fast, and crisp reset.

Cost is $145.00

As I posted earlier, when I installed the Powder River trigger kit on my XD 9 SC I did not install the new trigger component that came with the kit. I have not had an opportunity to shoot the gun, but had only dry fired with a snap cap and everything seemed to be okay. But I had this nagging worry that he would not have included the trigger if he didn't intend for it to be installed. I called Powder River and talked with Daniel today and he convinced me to install the trigger before I fire the gun. He is a tremendous help. I can't see how he can get anything done since he answers the phone himself! Unbelievable product support and service in today's world! I highly recommend him and his products!

You don't need to remove the trigger safety. You have to disassemble your frame. Take out locking pin then trigger pin and locking block pin.
Springfield Armory XD and HS2000.com

Then simply put the trigger in, reassemble and cut what you need off of the tip on the back of the trigger. All done in about 5 minutes.

I'm standing in that line.

I second that. I called him while working on my XDm, it was 5 something a.m. his time, he answered the phone and informed me he was up all night getting ready for the SHOT show. He could have let the phone ring or go to voicemail, but instead answered my questions and proceded to BS guns with me. He was tired, and still took the time, damn nice guy. Its because of that i will only buy Powder River Triggers.

how does this compare to the Match kit? Is it better?

Can I mix and match this kit with the other parts of the match kit to get a even better trigger?

you guys now have 3 kits and with bar-stos on the way its very confusing to someone in the market for a better trigger!

Not really. It's all the same. PRP sells the components. Trigger, sear, springs, lever. Buy them any way you want, they all work together.

The kit with the sear isn't out yet. When he gets the trigger, which I sprang too early, he will have the kit available with sear, trigger, lever and springs,,,,,soon, ensha-allah.

DT Guy,

Yes it is legal. The xd is considered a single action pistol by IDPA so it usually shot in ESP (Enhanced Service Pistol) division. External mods are allowed in in ESP and CDP (Custom Defensive Pistol) but not in SSP (Stock Service Pistol). As mentioned above the XD is not suited for SSP.

We do our best to insure that our trigger kits will be legal for what ever type of competition game that XD pistols are used to compete in including Production Division.

The new kit with the Trigger, for xd 9mm/40cal, will be released this weekend. kits for the xdm and xd 45 will be released shortly after.

I am really looking hard at these, but at 90 bucks... is it really worth the money.. All of my other guns have a 3-4 trigger pull and low reset. I miss my G27 that had that also... but I am wondering if it's worth it... Any idea's? Thanks.
