Hey everyone, planning on picking up an XD40 in a couple of weeks and seem to recall seeing a forum member from Port Angeles, WA. Since that's where I live, I was hoping to compare prices and see how he liked the service at the local shop. I tried searching but couldn't find him. I hope he sees this or someone knows his screen name. Thanks :)

Welcome. I live on the other side of the sound and a bit south. Between Seattle and Tacoma. Port Angeles is a nice place, one of my professors retired there.

XDs cost in the $450 range in my area, last I looked.

Thanks for the help, both of you. Blue Mountain Gun Works in town is asking $460 for the service model so it sounds like he's line with market price. I've been lurking here for months and waiting impatiently for the opportunity to pick up an XD. I can't wait. Thanks again :)

Drive down to Oregon, and pick one up for $419 + no sales tax... I think that is legal..

Hmmm.... Haven't posted in a while... GvtProperty pm'd me asking about XD prices. I thought my answer my be useful for the general public. First, I want to say that I am a strong believer in shopping locally, but unfortanetly I don't always have the money to pay the small town prices. On that note, back in December I drove to Sportsman's Warehouse in Silverdale (next to sub base Bangor) and purchased my XD 9 Service model for $420. I also fell under the free holster extra mag offer, although I had to send away for it.

To quickly explain my screen name... That's what we used to say when using blank rounds in the M16. We used a Blank Firing Aparatus which allowed us to fire blank rounds from a gas powered rifle. The only problem is that they tended to jam alot and were generally a real pain in the ass. Sooooo... They overall sounded like "Butter(automatice fire), Butter(automatice fire), Jam!"

Hope that helps. BTW, if anybody knows a good place to go shooting I am always open to new areas. Although gravel pits in the middle of nowhere creep me out a little.

I've decided to go ahead and get it from the local guy. It's not worth it to me to drive to Silverdale (over an hour away) much less OR. I agree with Butter that it's better to shop locally whenever possible. Thanks again for all the input, I'll be sure to post a range report once I get it.
