can anyone post a pic of the rear of your gun, specifically the portion around the cocked pin indicator?

mine seems to have a piece missing now that i look at it... but i don't know if it's always looked that way, and i'm just now noticing it.

here's another question: would the gun metal break if exposed to cold and room temperature repeatedly (the cooling and heating would be gradual; i.e. being left in a car in the winter, then being brought back in the house).

let me know....

for me, it would be more helpful if you would post a picture of what you think is missing/broken. By the "rear" do you mean the exterior of the slide around the striker status indicator? It should be pretty obvious if a piece of the slide is broken.

Ajames has quite a library of helpful info for you too look at.. take a look at http://www.xd-hs2000.com/disassembly/slidedisassembly.html and see if it helps you any.

I have learned a lot by going through these photos.

If your looking at the back of the slide just below the firing pin indicator, there is a cutout from the slide that is about 1/16" wide and 1/2" long and it actually looks notched . It's not missing or broke, it's made that way (at least both of my XDs are.)

thanks, Ray for the link... the 3rd picture (showing the firing pin lock plate) is what i was looking at... the finish on the bottom of that notch looks textured and not smooth, which made me think more that a piece of it had broken...

Rikoshey, yes, that's the part. thanks for the quick help!
