That's exactly right.
Apply the paint as recommended, as thickly as you can.
wait for about 30 minutes so it'll dry a bit.
When it has the consistency of putty, it can be trimmed with a small No 11 X-Acto knife.
Just press the blade softly against the gun sights and discard the excess.

Note: This requires a bit of dexterity, if you have never played with one of this knives, take a few minutes to do so.
This tool is as sharp as a surgeons knife.

We call it paint because of it comes in a fluid form. However as it starts to dry, or to set or seize, however you want to call it it takes a solid for.

The paint dries to the touch in about thirty minutes.
feels solid in about 6 hours but the curing process continues for a couple of days.

Please don't try to scratch it to test if it stick or if it's dry...You'll leave a dent on it... Stop messing with it until it cures! Ha, ha, ha!

Mind you, the dots on gun sights are just an afterthought, Make your dots or markings as big as you can. cover the whole surface if you can.
The more help your eyes get, the more accurate you become.
