They claim they made changes to fit the XDm - not just shorten the barrel .. So I ordered one today.. I'll post results when I get it. I'm gonna try and drop it in with minor polishing and stock XDm 9mm mags

I'll be interested in your report.
same here please keep us posted
It says 4-6 weeks so I figure that'll be about the time I get the magazines too.. lol This stuff is crazy trying to get anything for any handgun right now.. I went to walmart and they were out of .40 S&W anything. I went to Bass Pro Shops and they had 2 boxes of remington hollow points.. That was IT!!!
I just put another 250 rnds through mine today. Works great, just have to clean the feed ramp every 100rnds.
How did you order your barrel? Do you have a link?

I contacted Storm Lake Barrels and was told they don't make a barrel for the XDM.

.40 S&W is very hard to find in some places. I can't count on my hands how many places I get the last box, or last 3.. or 5... or 10.. :)

Everyone just buys as much as they can afford at that moment, and as much as they have in stock.

When I found Blazer for $12.00 a box, I bought it UP!

Now I'm looking for Hornady TAP JHP's, and I can find NONE!

That is kind of weird, I was just on their website and it is very plainly listed for the XD(m). I've been waiting to find a good setup that works for .40 to 9mm and seems like a lot of mixed reviews on conversions working.
Here is my email to sales at Storm Lake Barrels

I was looking at your website and noticed that you now have a XDm conversion barrel. I was wondering which barrel I should order for my xdm . I'd like the stock length. Also any input on what guide rod spring to use would be very helpful. I've read where a few people have tried your conversion barrel for the xd in the xdm and have had some difficulty with it.. Has there been changes between the 2 barrels other than the length ?? Thanks for the help

Here is the reply from Storm Lake Sales

Rich,

Stock length on the XDM is 4.6 inches. Springfield did make some small changes from the XD to the XDM. Our XDM barrel accounts for the changes relevant to fit and function.

I'm really hoping it works as I'm just learning to shoot and it would be nice to go to the range and put 300 rounds of 9mm thru it then swap to the 40 setup for carry ..
Storm Lake makes great stuff, I bough two of their barrels, and even the drop-in offer a increase in accuracy.

The XDm barrels are new this year, whomever said they didnt make them was just ill-informed.

From a recent email they sent me:

Yes same here been thinking I still made the wrong choice of getting the 40 but who knows I would be interested if it just dropped in just did a count got 1450 rounds of 40 and 1800 rounds of 9mm. Did it run about 160 and were you able to get some stock 9mm mags that seems to be the problem lately well good luck and keep us posted thanks again for the forum this is a great place to get info

OK, I just ordered one.

Apparently, there are two websites. One is Stormlakebarrels.com and the other is Stormlakebarrel.com. Both are Genesis Millworks, Inc. But Stormlakebarrels.com has barrels for Glock and 1911 only. Once I got to the other site, all was good.

Excellent! How did the testing go?
Does it matter if you have a 40 S&W or 9mm XD(m)? Can you convert a 9mm to a .40?

No.. You can only convert down...

Hello mtquivr.
We do in fact manufacture barrels for the XD(m) 40S&W and have had them available for a few months now. We currently offer 40S&W, 357Sig conversion, and 9mm conversion for this model. The 9mm conversion barrel has a small modification to the right side of the feed ramp to provide proper clearance for the extractor. The only other modification that we have seen posted and recommended is to slightly modify the tabs on a 40S&W magazine to ensure that 9mm rounds are properly held in place. Springfield has recently released the XD(m) in 9mm, and we are waiting on receipt of a factory original barrel and specifications before we release a direct replacement for that model. We have not verified whether the 9mm magazine for the XD(m) 9mm will fit the XD(m) 40S&W for 9mm conversions. Please be sure to visit our website Handgun Barrels 1911 Glock Springfield Sig Sauer - The Official Website of Storm Lake Barrels - Available in Canada and USA for more information and to be kept up to date on product availabilities.

Thanks,
David
