I have a XD9 that I purchased around 5 months ago, I have fired somewere around 4000 rounds through the pistol with no reliability issues. I sent it off to Springfield yesterday (Nov 1) due to the finish on the slide is wearing off at and incrediable rate. I stated in my letter to them that I understand that things will wear but I suspect this is excessive. I'm hoping they will refinish the slide for me and also do something with the sights. The white inserts fell out of the sights within 2 week & 600 rounds. the front sight insert fell out on the 3rd day of shooting, (286 rounds).
I installed some old Sig sights to correct that istead of sending it in for such a minnor problem. I will keep everyone posted on the progress.

I recieved my XD9 back from Springfield today, all I can say about the refinish is WOW. My new 1 week old XD9 dosen't look as good as the old battered one I recieved back from Springfield today. 11 days from the day it left me untill today, thats great service. Now I just need to decide what kind of sights to have install and save my money to send it to Canyon Creek for a trigger job.
I got mine refinished by Springfield as well. It's an Armory Kote finish (black).

Here's my post w/ pics from a few months ago. Notice how the last guy claims it looks just like his regular finish. That guy is in a trance. Maybe the pics don't do it justice, but it is soooo very different than the old finish (if you can call it that). It reminds me of a Glock.

How's that finish holding up, any scratches or chips?
How many rounds since the new ones been in action?
Thanks for the update!
