I performed the PRP trigger upgrade a few days ago on a new XDs 4.0 that I purchased in March. When I was taking the frame apart, I noticed rust on the frame. I know, I know, polymer doesn't rust. It was from the underside of the slide release, and had left a rust colored oily film on the frame cut out underneath it. I cleaned the frame up really good and cleaned the underside of the slide release with some CLP. It appears to be only surface rust that completely came off, but it still is an area of concern for me since it's hidden during normal use.

Thinking I might pull it off later on and Ceracoat it. Maybe I'll Ceracoat the grip safety and swap out the mag release for an extended one at the same time.

Just wanted to point it out. Anyone else have this little issue?

All the best,
Glenn

I carried a XD 40 for years. The slide release did rust, I touched it up with black paint. It is very hot and humid here in Florida. I now tend to carry cheaper and lighter guns now. When I was in a cash business I carried a full size XD in .40 SW.
