James - I did read the directions you sent, but they weren't really clear. The easiest way to put it is like this:
After placing bushing in slide..... with the slide upside down.....with spring over rod..... turn sharp coil end down (or toward the front sight)..... slowly push rod through coils until front of rod hits bushing and rear of rod contacts slope on rear of barrel..... slowly push and wiggle while pressing down the slope until the rod seats.
I think wiggling is the key. My fingers got pretty sore while figuring it out. I talked to Tom and he said he'd be working on making it a little easier. It's not too bad now unless you were in the Croation army or something and had to strip the gun and put it back together. I think the result is worth the trouble. This thing looks great.
