I just recently bought an XDS 4.0 9mm and I noticed something I haven't noticed before while using orange dummunition. When the round is chambered and the action is closed I can clearly see the rim of the catridge from the side of the gun. Is this normal with an XDS???

See just a sliver. If you see a lot may not be fully in battery.

It's normal on a heaping handful of handguns. Generally youll see the extractor and a bit of the brass casing. Nothing to fret about.
