First off, thank you XDT for your empathy this last week as I was anxious to get possession of my first firearm that I so thoroughly (at least I think I was) researched.

I don't believe i was delayed in getting it or anything...I was just anxious/impatient. But yesterday morning I called gun shop to verify with them (right from the source) how long it might take, and they told me they like to allow the state 10 business days so if I purchased gun on "X"-day, then I can call on "Y"-day and they do an instant check. But as I posted n previous thread about whining that I want my gun so bad (who can blame me?), I was leaving work that Friday afternoon after working 9 hrs. OT (to help pay for this new treasure) the gun shop had called back to let me know the notice to proceed came in and could come get it....FINALLY! (perfect ending to a Friday, eh)

Also, my new IWB holster had arrived yesterday too, so I've gotten to wear around the house to gt used to and break in. I thought I researched holsters pretty thoroughly...LOTS of opinions here....even more options to choose from out there. I finally resolved upon the Winthrop Dual Snap leather IWB holster. I tried to weigh how (and how often) I would be carrying, against how some of you described your habits, body types, preferences, etc. and determined that is what appealed and coincided with all my needs, preferences, and inclinations.

Not sure when I'll be able to get to the range here, gotta coach a soccer game later this morning and some honey-do stuff around the house this weekend.....Got great motivation to get it done sooner though!

TL,DR; Finally got my XDM 9mm 3.8 compact (bi-tone) on same day as new IWB holster.... perfect start to weekend if I do say so.

I hope you are voting against that stupid back round check initiative that is being pushed so hard by the billionaires!

Don't pay any attention to the tv ads which lie, read the entire 10 pages.

I was in westport wa all summer and saw the ads on tv and the read the entire 10 pages, they are NOT telling the whole story.

Agreed x a million!!! The initiative is I-594 and it is 18 pages. it is a VERY VERY bad bill, don't believe anything about it being just a background check bill for sales this thing applies to TRANSFERS and the way they define transfers literally means just handing your firearm to someone. Not only that but it expands the existing State pistol registry that currently just has all pistols purchased through an FFL to ALL pistols and gives the DOL the ability to expand that to all firearms if they choose. (which they probably will). So essentially GUN REGISTRY!!! 2 years ago they already tried to pass an assault weapons bill that would have allowed the local Sheriff to search everyone with an assault rifles home once a year to make sure their AR is properly secured. MAJOR 4th amendment violation and when word got out about that provision the bill luckily died in the senate but do not underestimate what the Seattle anti gunners will try and do with a registry of firearms.

Check out thetruthabout594.com to get all the details but please not only vote NO but education anyone and everyone you can to do the same.

For anyone outside of WA this affects you too. Bloomberg and the anti gunners are pushing HARD to get this passed and if it does they are going to think they can do this across the country. Bloomberg just dropped another million towards this the other day making his contribution 2 million total. Gates has dropped 1 million. Steve Balmer has dropped 1 million. A guy named Nick Hanaur initially financed this thing with 1 million and Paul Allen has dropped 500K on it. The NRA has only spent 200k to try and defend us, this is a total grassroots effort.

On the other side of the fence we have I591 which is GOOD! it was written by Alan Gotlieb of the 2nd amendment foundation (the group that has been wining court battles such as D.C. vs Heller and McDonald v.s. Chicago) It is 2 paragraphs and does 2 things. 1 prevents government confiscations without due process and 2. Prevents the state from requiring background checks that go beyond the national standard. If you can please kick in a few bucks to the Yes on 591 campaign. The hope is that if 594 passes 591 may also pass and if it does it will cancel out 594 but will probably have to get decided by the courts.

Anyway sorry for hijacking your thread but if you have any questions hit me up.

I was already thinking about the XDS 9mm 3.3 when doing my research my initial research. And when I was at the gun shop, I saw the Ruger SR22...that just looked like fun for plinking around. (I know it's not a XD, XDM or XDS, but I bought my XDM with serious emphasis on home protection and conceal carry....that .22 just looks like fun!)

Thanks!

FYI y'all; I changed the back strap to the No. 1....feels like that pistol was made just for me!. (in the GS, they don't let one take time to switch the back straps and get a feel for the difference).

Are you serious!?!?!? They wouldn't let you change the back strap to see if you like it or not? That isn't a very consumer friendly place brother. That's like going to test drive a car and the dealer saying you can sit in it but don't adjust the seats.

I think there's a lot of things they don't let you do in gun shops (as I'm finding out). I chalk it up to the fact that maybe they deal with a lot of loons (armed usually) most of the time so they have to be watchful, and restrictive. I wonder though, if one developed a rapport with them if they would actually let you examine the stuff a little more closely/intensely. I don't why I'm making plausible excuses for them, but yeah, you're right, if that default #2 backstrap had felt very uncomfortable to me, I may not have purchased a $600 gun from them.
Congrats JayBone. I hope you enjoy your XDM 9mm 3.8 Compact as much as I like mine. For me, it was worth the wait.

If you haven't done so already... don't forget to register for the GearUp promotion. Springfield Armory Gear Up submission form

Yea it makes a big difference being able to "play" with it before you buy it. They should make judgment calls on who should and shouldn't be able to fondle them. Clean cut, no muzzle sweeping etc, yea let the guy mess with it, thuggish ruggish bone in a hoody and sagging pants, nope.
