i bought a XD9 a few months ago. AWESOME gun, love it!!

my question is, does anyone know if they make, or plan to make, the lazer pointer for the XD like they do for Glocks, etc? i am out very early in the mornings for work so having that on the gun would be an added intimidatoin factor(if i ever have to pull my gun) plus help for target practice etc...

thanks for any help

Are you talking about the one that replaces the guide rod? If so, there are rumors roaming that there may be one in the future...but nothing currently exists out there. If I'm remembering the previous post about this correctly, I think the company that makes that device is waiting to see if there's much demand for it. (whoever wrote that may feel free to correct me :))

Yep, not available, and no current plans in the works that I've heard of to manufacture them. Anybody have any more detail on this? They would be very nice to have in the XD.

My contact at LaserMax said that they still don't have enough interest in XD guide rod lasers to justify tooling up for one.

If you want a laser unit within the next 2yrs, go buy a Insight M-6 Tac light/laser combo.

I personally feel that using a laser makes you lazy and you won't learn to shoot propery with sights. You'll deveop "muscle memory" and whenever you go to shoot any gun, you'll be looking around for a red dot instead of looking down your sights.

If you ever have to pull a gun it should not need extra intimidation factors. One does nto pull a gun to scare danger away, one pulls it to deal with danger, quickly, decisively and finaly. Pulling a gun to intimidate someone will just get you arrested for assault. Danger to life must be imminent. If the agressor is still in the intimidate stageg then you should de-escalate, run away, or try less then letahl options first. Gun is a last ditch resort.
