Yesterday I was lucky enough to purchase a mint condition Bushmaster XM15-e2 S from a club member. Going through my Hornady manual on .223 recipes.
Thinking on going with the 60 gn V-Max w/ COL: 2.250 and H 335 powder using 22 gn: 2900 fps. Any thoughts on this... thanks, oh yeah, that is one sweet shooting gun !

Nice pick-up on the BM XM15. They are very nice rifles!

That sounds like a good starting point for load development with the 60gr v-max, although I think I'd probably push them a little closer to 3100 fps (at least 3000), but that is what load development if for I guess!! ;) The reason I say closer to 3000 and faster is that the BH factory loads with the V-max bullets shoot at around 3050 out of my 16" and 3100 out of my 20" AR's and they are just scary-accurate

Out of curiosity, what twist is your barrel on the E2?

The 20" barrel has a 1 in 9" twist. I just got back from the range and chrono'ed some 55gn Federal PowerShock with no powder charge data on the box. 3095, 3056, 3084 were the three shots I tested. I was hitting bowling pins at a hundred yards and in, consistently w/o optics. Real happy with the way the gun shoots... 200 yards at least I got it on paper, got work to do on that.
