Question-- I took my new sub 9 to the range yesterday, and the brass was ejected just past my right shoulder by a couple of inches while some hit me in the face/head. Is this normal of the sub's? My 4 inch bi-tone doesn't do this or ever has, brass is thrown well clear. I was using Igman, Remington and another import brand called PS all with the same results. Never had any problems in 250 rds, just annoyed by the brass around the face.

Do you have the slick little Pearce grip extension to support your pinky?? I do and that might help. I don't seem to have that problem with my subby. But the first time my wife shot it at the range, she had a few hit her (one right in the safety glasses) -- so it may be a grip issue.

I use WWB and have never had a problem like that. I also used reloads bought at a gun show. They are their "factory" reloads, using Winchester cases. Not only do I get hit on the head and arms, I have some FTF and FTE; but since the price is low and I'm just plinking at the range, I really don't mind. I get some practice dealing with FTF and FTE. No big deal.

Yes, it happens. Get used to it or wear a hat. If it happens in deadly force encounter you going to stop shooting and complain? Consider it a distraction to test your skill, ignore the brass and finish your course of fire.

No I am not going to stop and complain. Heck I was only getting distracted from grinning by the brass. Why was I grinning?--Because at 10 yds there was a ragged hole about 2 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches where the X ring on the target used to be.

it was throwing most of the brass directly in my GFs face, i took the gun from her to see if it was the guns problem and all the brass flew in the same direction as it does with my tacitcal off to about 4 oclock.

Its a grip problem. 8)

make sure your hands are all the way up on the grip, just beneath the back of the slide.
