Hey,

I've been looking at seriously purchasing a GLOCK 17 or 34 until recently when I've first learned about the XD. Between the thread over at GT here, this forum, and various reviews on the net, I think I'm completely sold on picking up a XD-9 5". It's pretty impressive when even people at GT have pretty good things to say about this pistol.

To further make me feel confident in this pistol, I've read the review from Leibster and all I have to say is WOW! So, once my tax refund comes in, I'll be picking one up, probably from impactguns.com. Hopefully, I'll be an active member of this forum and even learn more about what seems to be an absolutely incredible gun.

Cheers,
Steve

I don't know your reason for buying the pistol is.. if you intend to use for IDPA, or Carry, or home defense, or whatever... I am sure you have your reasons. I am curios though, why the tactical model? I am not saying it's a bad choice, I am just wondering.

I'm really looking at that pistol more so for range accuracy. I don't really need a carry weapon right now and don't have my CCW so it's going to be more of a "fun gun". Since I'm in college right now, I can't keep it in my dorm room but the head of security more or less told me I could keep it in their office. When I'm at home I think it'll be a fine defense gun (hopefully, I don't have to worry about that, but you never know).

This will be my first pistol, I've had several rifles and shotguns and have fired everything from .22s to Uzis to AR-15s to SKSs etc.

When it comes time to get my CCW and a carry weapon, I'll look at something smaller but right now it'll be something for me to shoot at the range.

Cheers

I own two of them and am looking at a third. Comfortable, fun, inexpensive to shoot. What more could you ask for in a range gun?

When I was first looking into getting a handgun, I was pretty much ready to buy Glock until a guy at the gun shop showed me the XD. I was pretty much sold from the minute I held it. It was so much more comfortable for me compared to the Glock. Then when you throw in all the safety features, the ambidextrous mag release and the price difference, I was sold. Went in a week later and bought one. It is by far my favorite gun I own so far but I'm going to buy an AR some time so my XD might have some competition when that happens. Nothing wrong with some good old fashioned competition now is there? :D

Thanks to btsparks, I now know that I can pick up a XD-40 and do a barrel conversion to 9x19 which is really cool! For $150 more, I think it's totally worth it. I'm liking these pistols more and more.

Cheers

I have full confidence you'll be completely satisfied with your choice. The Tactical model is great. It's a reliable and very accurate pistol. I love mine for the range, but I just got my CCW permit and would like something a little smaller just to be easier to handle and conceal. The instuctors for my CCW training were very impressed with the pistol also. One even remarked, "I've got to get me a XD!" I have carried it, though. It can be done and some people even prefer it. To each his own. It's whatever you feel comfortable with that counts. Good luck with your new XD! Give us a report after you get it. :)

if its out of state you have to pay shipping and the Firearm transfer fee (lowest $20). so add about $30 to any internet price you see.
Yeah, I was expecting that. There is only one Springfield Armory authorized dealer near me so I'll have to give them a call and find out what kind of price they can give me.

Absolutely! I will hopefully be making my purchase in the next week or so depending on when I get a couple of my rifles sold. You can count on a report after I have 100 or so rounds through it :D
