I am a long time Glock user and armorer. However I am now the proud owner of XD40 Tactical. While the XD is extremely accurate, I'm not satisfied with the trigger.
I know that someone out there has a copy of the armorer's manual. I would be extremely grateful if I could get it. Yes, I know that I could send the pistol out but I like to do things myself and I believe that I'm a responsible adult who can be trusted with this knowledge. Please PM me.

Thanks in advance,

Just like the Glock armors manual there is nothing in the XD`s manual that tells how to do a trigger job. Since your a glock armorer you know they dont discuss a trigger job. only to keep the connector is oiled so it does not produce a hard trigger pull and undue wear.

Also how do we know your not some one from SA trying to catch someone giving away copy`s of the manual. I am sorry but I dont trust any one that says trust me. And as far as being a responsible adult who knows you could be a 13yr old school girl for all we know.

That said why dont you ask what you really want to ask. Does any one know how to do a trigger job or make the xd`s trigger just a bit sweeter.

overkill when this is a new post the sticky thread thats right above it.....is about the armorers manual.

AJamesp51: Unlike others, I thank you for the civil response. You're right in that what I'm looking for is a way to make the XD trigger better. It's true that the Glock manual doesn't have that information either but being new to the XD I wanted to gain some background information. I could be a 13 year old girl (I'm not, if you'd like some personal information please PM me and I'll give you an independant way of verifying who I am) but really the question I have is "So what if I was?" What's the risk? Is she going to go out and make some mods before shooting someone? I think that it's more likely that a 13 year old might be interested in learning how to make meth or grow cannabis. Both topics are well described in various places.

I understand that the moderators chose to remove the information at SA's request. I was trying to respect their decision and ask for the information without having it posted on this site.

It saddens me to see political correctness becoming so persasive among individuals who should treasure freedom more than any others.

Maybe it's just something about egos and guns that go together. I've heard that the glocktalk and AR15 forums were notorious for this but maybe they don't have a monopoly.

I can figure it out on my own.

Gumby, I'm sorry if my post came off wrong. My comment was not aimed at you. I was talking about the smart-a$$ reply that you got for asking a question. My comment was aimed at overkills reply. I'm on your side. That's no way to treat a new member!

I'm new here too, sorry about that!!

side with Overkill on this one... of course with a little less "demon juice" (well for now anyway, its monday morning)..

I have been using forums for years and I (once) brought up somebody using the search button and got buried, so I don't bring it up anymore, however I will support somebody who responds to a question by "informing" the poster to use the search button...

I too am saddened " to see political correctness becoming so persasive among individuals who should treasure freedom more than any others" and am not allowed to respond however I feel, in time you will see the flavor of posts and thereby have a better feel of what a person is really like (as opposed to tulips and sunshine). We have much better things to fear (other than a shirthead :) ) than somebody (might I say with a shirt on his head again) posting in terms that you may be offended by..

Anyway, I don't post frequently, I don't have much knowledge that most folks here don't, so I just sit back and learn, therefore my post count is pretty low.

Hey Gumby, congratulations on the XD40 Tactical, I also have the XD40 and carry my XD9 sub with Grip extensions and love both of them and by the way, welcome to the boards...

hello gumby;
ajames51 is the x-pert here on all things xd. he was very help full when i was experimenting with the xd trigger set up.

i don,t know your background so please don't take this the wrong way, i have been to the glock, sig ,s&w,hk, ruger, winchester, remmington, and many more armourer schools. you will need more experiance than glock armourer's school to work wonders with an xd.

the main objective is to smooth the sear and firing pin and reduce the weight of pull. also reduce the over travel and reset.

this is being done by several different means.
barsto is in the process of doing a trigger with welded on humps to reduce over travel, and i think a new harder sear.

I made mods by welding bumps on the trigger bar to reduce over travel.
i have reduced the trigger pull to 3.5 lbs. by resetting the sear and trigger bar and firing pin block springs. i will not go this lite on duty weapons.

I carry a 4" 357 sig cal xd on duty and am playing with a 40 cal tactical for fun.

good luck, the fun is in the learning.

Welcome Gumby. There are alot of suggestions here, mainly do not remove metal, just polish. Good luck in your attemps, I am sure that you will be successful. The smoothing of the trigger happens over time, however shortining the trigger pull is what I think you are wanting. That is something I would send off to have done just because I know if I did it I would probably wind up buying a new gun. Ha Ha. Great bunch of guys around here and one of the best forum's around, IMHO.

As an individual, you can do a few things to help with the trigger weight, however you can't do much for the travel and reset (which is the problem for most).

If you want your XD to be "all that it can be", give Rich at Canyon Creek a call. If you do a search on Canyon Creek, you will see that dozens have Rich's trigger and all are extremely happy with it.

Congrats on your new XD and welcome to the forum!
