Here is my new XD40 that I got as a graduation present. I've managed to put 400 rounds through it so far without any problems. However, if you look at the magazine in the second picture, it is kind of hanging out a little ways. Is this something that I need to worry about? Will Springfield replace it for me? If so, how should I go about that? This is my first gun, so all the help I can get is greatly appreciated. I've thoroughly enjoyed browsing this forum for the last couple months and finally decided I would join today.

Thanks in advance.

I have, but it just sticks back out again after i let go of it. I have compared the two mags and it looks like the one that sticks out has all of the holes punched slightly lower than the other one. I don't know if the difference would show up if I took a side by side picture of the two or not, maybe I'll try that later today.

That is not normal... If you push that mag in and it pokes back out, I would worry that it will not feed correctly. I'm not sure I've seen this problem come up on this board before.. I am sure there is and easy fix.. there always is.. but until somebody more knowledgable comes along I would set that magazine aside.

I don't know how well you guys can see from this picture, but the magazine on the right has everything punched slightly higher than the one on the left. Left magazine fits snuggly while the right magazine 'pokes out'. Like I said, I've put about 400 rounds through it and each magazine saw about the same number of rounds w/o and feed problems.

Thanks for the e-mail addy R/T. I'll send off a note to her today and keep you guys posted.

Thanks again.

BTW, I'm slightly frightened that R/T's reply to my post was his 666th post.

I guess this gives me an excuse to order an extra magazine, I'd hate to only have one magazine. I e-mailed Megan at Springfield Armory, I assume they would replace the magazine at no charge. Does that seem reasonable? Then I'll have three. :)

I would think they will you may have to wait for a shipping reimbursement.
I would buy a couple can't ever have to many lol.
I think I have 4 =12 rounderds 4=9 round sub 4=10 round and one pos.Pro-mag 11 3/4
If you want to compete in a Idpa style match you will need 3 at least :D

They may make you send back the defective magazine, but should reimburse you if that is the case.

When did the magazines start having witness holes for all of the rounds? :?:

I have corresponded with megan at Springfield. I am supposed to mail my magazine in and they will send me the replacement within two weeks of recieving my mag. I'm pretty satisfied with the prompt service, now I just have to find the time to mail it off. Thanks for everyone's help.

Do the subcompact magazines also have individual holes, or just the fullsize magazines?

Since we are talking about magazines, my XD40SC came with a 12 round magazine. When fully loaded it wont catch no matter how hard I try. If I remove one round then it loads fine and locks in place. Is that normal?
