Just got my M91/30. The bolt bites your left thumb EVERYTIME if you don't pay attention. I would have hated to be a lefty Russian in the war! Seems like a nice Hex example, 1935. However, per this website, my stock appears to be early WWII, and BOTH sling slots look like this. The site doesn't show any rear slots that look this way in the closeup examples.

But it does look this one they say is "wartime".

Would this stock setup be original to a HEX receiver? Or was the stock replaced at some point?

Rusty,

I've never had any problems at all.

I prefer the straight handle as I, like Kirk, reach over and operate it with my left hand.

I sometimes maintain that the Mosin-Nagant is a lefty's rifle!

How do you end up being bitten?

Those types of conversions have been done for lefties for years on most bolt actions.

The verdict seems to be that it's just as easy to reach over the top on most rifles.

Tell them since you're such a socialist, they should redistribute some left handed bolts to you.

This is how I do my bolts:

Or I lay it on its side and pull the bolt that way.

PS, how many rounds does that rifle hold?

Who would have thought the Винтовка Мосина wouldn't accommodate a lefty?

Maybe you should change parties?
