Might be a stupid question...But what is this??? (1 Pic)

This piece was in the case when I got my XD40 Service. I have no idea what it's for, nor does my dad. Just curious if anyone knows what it could be??? Thanks for the help.

Its an unloaded gun indicator. Put the little forked end into the chamber and leave the non-forked end sticking out the side of the ejection port and close the slide on it. Now at a glance you know the gun is unloaded.

It is inserted in the ejection port to hold the slide back from going into battery while in shipment. You can safely discard it.

Keep it in your range bag. You never know if you will visit a range or a competition that may require them during a cease fire. I know it sounds anal but I have been to some ranges that require this. It never hurts to have safety accessories for soem timem in the future if the need arises.

Thats an unloaded chamber indicator. KEEP IT! Some ranges require you to have it in while transporting the firearm from the lane.

I hope that you do go to a range. That is the place for IDPA, IPSC, PPC and other type of shoots. I have been shooting for 20 yrs and I always learn something when I go to the range for competition.
