match grade barrel in xd???

hey folks,

Can you put a xdm match grade barrel in a xd? I don't want to get rid of my xd and get an xdm. I just want the xdm barrel. What does the process entail and are there any problems with it?

There isn't enough difference between the tow barrels to justify the expense.

then what is the real difference between the xd's and the xdm's? sorry just uber curious...
First off, you need to realize that the "Match Grade" claim on XDm barrels is, well...let's just say more show than go.

For most autopistols, the barrel needs to be hand-fit to see a drastic improvement in accuracy. Otherwise, the barrel will not always return to the exact same position between shots. Not something you're going to find on a mass produced pistol.

I've owned and shot both XD's and XDm's; there is absolutely no practical, discernible difference between the two, accuracy-wise.

The big difference between the two?

Well, there's a reason that I've always said the "M" stands for "money"--as in it costs more.

(actually, in 9mm and .40, the XDm has a higher capacity; beyond that, a differnt style grip and replaceable backstraps. Beyond some cosmetic differences, that's about it)

Thanks for the info. for a cosmetics only upgrade it's so not worth it.
You want match grade do this.

Bar-Sto Precision Machine

HOWEVER!!!!!!!!!
A true match grade barrel such as these BarSto barrels make for tighter tolerances in the gun. That's part of how match grade barrels become more accurate however can cause problems with feeding certain types of ammo. Just a heads up.
Does anyone have an XDm 40 barrel they would be willing to part with?
Hi,
Noticed with my new XDM-Elite 10MM that when gauging reloads...

That the Barrel would take ammo that the gauge would reject. (prior Glock 21 brass!)

That is not what I would call a "Match" chamber, but...

Fine with me and actually prefer it.

These CHF XD Barrels are great to me and accurate to boot!

They pop up with various parts on Ebay / Gunbroker, just keep an eye out for them.
