Was wondering, I picked up my brand new 357 XD Service today, and it came with 2 high-cap mags (12 rounders) which are labeled for 40SW. Are these okay? It seems really hard to get 12 in there. Is there supposed to be specific ones for 357?

It seems you have to really press hard on the mag release to get it to drop (even empty)

This normal? Anyways, hoping to shoot it this weekend. :)

The .40 and .357 mags are the same. The 12 rounders are a bit stiff at first, but they break in with use. Give them time and use, and they will work normally.

Thanks. :) Hope they do. I am leaving them loaded up for a while, hoping the spring will wear.

Almost any gun that can be chambered in both .40 and .357sig will use the same mags. Basically a .357sig is a .40 case with a 9mm bullet. Since the case is the same at the base and rim, they will fit into a .40 mag, gun, etc. no problem. I just suggest a correct barrel when trying to shoot it.

My XD-40 Sub Compact came with a 357 Sig 12-round magazine. Works just fine for me feeding all sorts of ammo.
