Magazine problem

So, I got an extra mag for my new XD45 tactical, but upon fully loading it I noticed a problem.

Upon inserting the 11th round, the 7th round will shake back and forth freely. The 7th round is not freely moving previously, and it continues to be round 7 moving upon inserting rounds 12 and 13.

I took the mag apart and put it back together, but I can't see anything visibly wrong. I haven't fired it yet, but I suspect it will feed fine.

anyone have any info that can help?

My XD9sc magazine has the same thing, but still shoot awesome...I´m sure it won´t be a problem.
There are many double stack mags that rattle.
I just two magazines back to Springfield Armory because of the malfunctions they caused. After checking the magazines, I found that the springs in the magazines that came with my pistol are 6 inches long and the springs in the locally purchased magazines (from a local gun shop) are only 5.5 inches! This has caused rounds to not only feed, but one time a round actually turned sideways in the magazine!

I don't want to think that someone at the gun shop swapped out the longer springs in the two 13 round magazines I purchased for the shorter springs in their 10 round magazines to give them more pressure, but I will only purchase magazines directly from Springfield (or maybe it they're in a factory sealed package).

Springfield has been great with this issue. They sent me a Fedex shipping label to send the magazines back to them. Their customer service has been excellent and I've just purchased another XD. I know that if any issues come up at any time with any of their products, they'll stand behind them 100%

The bullets rattled in my XD45 Service magazine when it was brand new but the rattling stopped after shooting about 100 rounds. I have had zero malfunctions with that mag or any XD firearm.
cool, so I guess it shouldn't be much of an issue and might even go away on its own. Thanks guys, glad I joined here so I could ask these things. :)
Interestingly, upon disassembling and reassembling the magazine again, it seems to have stopped letting the round wiggle freely. The spring in the extra mag is noticably lighter than the ones that came with my xd45.

However, it seems that fully loaded mags take a lot of effort to insert fully into the gun (i.e. make the mag catch click) and take the jaws of life to engage the mag release. It's not really an issue with the mag that has a lighter spring, but the two mags that came with my xd are a pain to get out if they are loaded. It seems to have to do with the spring tension, and I assume this will go away as I wear in the mags and xd itself.

Sounds like you got my mag spring... one of my compact mags had the full size spring in it. I guess they get mixed up at the factory sometimes...:???:
Intersting...I have BOTH problems listed in this entire thread with a subtle difference in regards to the rattle!

Never have had any shooting/ejecting malfunction after 500 rounds so far. But both the 10 round and 13 round magazines when full are a little stubborn to lock into the gun and HARD to get to release out! They have always been like this.

The rattle issue is only in my 10 round mag, and started after I accidentally dropped the full mag onto the ground (basement concrete)...YIKES! I have shot it many times since, and like I said no problems so far.

I'm not overly worried, but the mag release issue does, bug me...I would think it should be smoother and easier than it currently is. My buds XD-40 sub, isn't like this!!!
