Seems kinda weak in comparison to the SA XD torture test if you ask me.

Where did the torture come in? They cleaned it 11 times, it had 2 stoppages and 2 breakages in 50,000 rounds.

Now try no cleaning, mud, dirt, grime, etc and double the amount of rounds with no stoppages or breakages and you have me sold. Hence why I bought my XD40sc and my HS2k 9mm service.

It wasn't that type of torture test, he wanted it to be realistic. Next time you drop your XD9 into a puddle of mud, freeze it, or drive your F-150 over it.. let me know. ;)

Stoppages were ammo related. Breakages were wear parts(trigger spring) that he shot way past the S&W recommended replacement schedule. I personally thought it was pretty impressive. And I highly doubt you'd put 100k through your XD9 anytime soon.
nah.. not through my HS2k.. Wouldnt drive over it with my truck either, but I have dropped it in the sand accidentally, pulled the slide back, shook it out, reloaded and put another 2 mags through it. Never missed a beat. Couldnt justify shooting it more though and chance breaking or wearing something odd.

My W.German P228 however has well over 100k rounds through it with NO stoppages, ZERO malfunctions and NOT ONE broken part... I love that gun and will never part with it. Im sure you can relate Nikon, since your a SIG nut as well. ;)

EDIT: What is the maintenance schedule for the M&P's??? I would expect triggers, springs, strikers, etc to last way longer than 50K rounds... This kind of has me turned off to the M&P line now. I like them, toyed with the idea of buying one, but not if there is a funky maintenance schedule to follow.

Its similar to Glock if I recall correctly. I believe the trigger spring and recoil spring are 20k.

From Todd's site:

"All good things, as they say …
During Week 20, we had the first parts breakage on the test gun. At round 37,427 the trigger spring broke. The gun still fired, but the shooter had to push the trigger forward manually for each shot.
The gun had not been cleaned in more than 7,500 rounds! The breakage occurred almost a thousand rounds into a very high-speed practice session.
Smith recommends the trigger spring be replaced during normal preventative maintenance … a recommendation we obviously ignored for the purpose of this test.
The spring was replaced immediately after the breakage and another 350 rounds were fired through the gun on the same day without problem."

ha ! cool you put a 100k through one gun yourself?

how many years did it take?

nikkon the torture test seems ok, or legit, i mean clearly its no POS. I wouldnt purposely beat the snot out of anything i own like the XD torture test or the glock test. Well unless i had 3 of them and got one for free, i might do it to see if i can replicate the test, in the name of science. Yeah thats it, in the name of science. Science with free ammo.

I did the math, and it personally would take me well over 4 years to put 50k through a gun. Probably more considering I have three different guns. To do that in six months is pretty impressive.
