Hi everyone

I am new to this forum and was wondering if anyone could help me. I am looking to purchase an xd9 tactical. I like the 9 because of the 15+1 capacity (I think, correct me if I'm wrong).

I like the xd becuase of the way it fits my hand and the price. I also havent heard of any major problems. I like the 9 because of the cheap ammo and ability to buy many different varieties

I plan to use this gun for shooting and maybe ccw.

Does anyone see anything wrong with getting this particualr model? Has anyone ever had any problems with theirs?

Welcome, I'm new also, I think the XD-9 is a great gun and I really enjoy shooting mine. I think if you are thinking of CCW you may want to think about the 4" Service instead of the 5" Tactical. The round capacity is the same but you will have less to conciel (sp?) with the smaller lighter gun. This is just my openion I still dont have my CCW but this was my thinking when I got my XD-9 service.

Thanks for info so far.

I never thought about being able to switch the barrels with the 40. It sound slike a pretty good idea. I forgot the mention the reason I am getting the 9 is it is from a private citizen and a very good price.

Does anyone know how the size would compare to a regular spingfield 1911 mil spec

Welcome! I am also a newbie to this forum for the most part but everyone is extremly helpful and will guide you to the right sources. I bought a service XD 9 and absolutely Love It!!!! I haven't had a chance to go and shoot due to the Horrible amount of rain that we have been having but my XD9 fits my hand like a glove and target aquisition seems to be a breeze! The only problem that I have heard is some finishes getting a little bit of rust on them but as for me I will probably be getting the Black T finish from SA because of its superior quality. The magazines that have reviewed the XD sing their praises and rightly so here is a link to one review that I have found helpful:

I have a 9MM Tactical and yes i do use it for my CCW. i like it because it fits my hand well and it feels good to me. And thats the bottome line . Its what fits good in your hand and what feels good to you, to fit your comfort level. We can give you pointers and views but the bottome line is that it needs to fit your comfort level. Oh! and welcome to the board.. enjoy. There is a vast amount of knowledge here. soak it up!!!

It would be more comparable to the Commander size, IMO. The fact that the 1911 is a single stack lends it's self to be a better CCW package.
Of course!...YMMV! 8)

Welcome to the board.

Yeah the grip angle and grip safety are borrowed from the 1911 design I believe.
