Well I would like to get a good thigh holster for my new XD-40 service. I was wondering if you guys might recommend a good brand and model tactical style thigh holster. I probably won’t have a light or laser sight on it, a magazine pouch or two would be nice and black would be the color of choice. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I like it too, I will just have to somehow order it without the "girlfriend with two rings" finding out. If I spend to much more money on shooting stuff before I finish her bathroom and kitchen I am going to end up sleeping in the garage.

Thanks for the suggestions

I got the black one and the tan one by Fedex today from cheaperthandirt.com. I just bought them for shits and giggles. I own a Blackhawk Industries OmegaVI thigh rig that cost me about 2.5 times as much last year and IMO this one isn't much diferent. I'd buy them again. Good solid stitching with nice fasteners. Quality product as far as the first day's inspection goes.

How does you XD fit in the Leapers Rig from cheaper than dirt. Does it fit tight, does it wiggle around in the holster when your walking. I want a rig so I can carry my XD while varmint hunting and not have to worry about it getting covered up by a coat. That will keep me out of trouble untill I get a CCP and keep the XD handy if I need to get it out.

Thanks

Those must be some nasty varmints! Just Kidding! The Leapers from CTD.com fits the XD pretty darn securely. On the inside of the holster at the bottom there is even some velcro so it can be adjusted to fit the contour of many different barrels. The thumb break on the top of the holster seems secure enough. I don't think you can do any better for the price.

I got one like Quixdraw from Caravans End.. $20.00. I had to modify it a bit by taking the top strap and sewed it so it goes over the top as I didn't like it over the grip, depressing the safety. Took 2 days to get here and I couldn't be happier. Its nice too because it easily converts from drop leg to belt holster in about 10 seconds. I find it sturdy, secure and it looks good too. For 1/3 the price of Blackhawk, I think its a great product.

i have one of those cheapie thigh holsters i purchased from cheaperthandirt.com. it's nice, although, my only gripe is that i got what i paid for. i ended up ordering a holster from blade-tech after i used that cheapie twice in the woods.

one thing to think about in a holster like that is the strap that goes around your thigh. the cheap ones just have the nylon webbing material so you might think about sewing in a patch of strechie-nylon to keep tention when you tighten it down around your leg.

just about everybody carries those types of holsters, http://www.cheaperthandirt.com
http://www.midwayusa.com
for example.

I bought this one...

Its a well made holster, heavy stitching, treated with Teflon, has rinforced thumb break and a velcro strap to lock the thumb break if needed during strenuous activity. Great holster for the money!

I ended up going with the above one from cheaper than dirt. For the money I am pleased. It does hang a little bit low on my thigh even adjusted as high as possible but I think with a quick modification to the hanger I can get it to ride as high as I need. Thanks for all the great responses. I am looking foward to giving my XD-40 a try on a few groundhogs later this summer.

I just ordered one of these along with their web belt (nice finding belts for us bigger guys at a good price)
I like the dual strap over the single strap. Keeps the gun from flopping around as much.
