After a big week at work to close out a big month, I spurged a little today and picked-up an Auto Folder...I had three options locally: Benchmade, Kershaw and SOG

SOG is made overseas shameful...and out of the question
Benchmade has been my go-to knife preference for several years; Excellent quality, American Made, no-BS Warranty and many options in each model...But there was something about the simplicity of the other option...

I ended up adopting a Kershaw Launch--a pushbutton, automatic folder with a plain blade

Image

Initially, I was impressed by the minimalist design--a single button to actuate the blade which also functions as the lock release; The pocket clip is reversible, allowing orientation to be switched for customization of carry...

Image

The handle is metal--I am usually a fan of Benchmade using lighter-weight materials like G10 but the flat coating and the clean lines and thin profile make this one handle equal to my Benchmade HK Nitrous Blitz

Image

Not too bulky...but good enough for serious use as a defensive tool

Best Part--> Made entirely In The USA...:D

Overall, I am pleased with the quality and the pricetag was just under $100...

SOG is made entirely overseas from what I have found...

Kershaw is overwhelmingly US--and I will only buy the American Models...Japanese being a close runner-up

@DevJames I tended to agree, but I find myself liking them more and more...the blade is CPM154 steel

I usually get the "Friday 4:58pm" model

I am gonna carry the knife this week and report back with my impressions from prolonged use--the retailer said if I have any problems he will return it for up to 30 days no-questions-asked

Nice! I'm a big fan of Kai, the company that owns both Kershaw and Zero Tolerance. Excellent quality.

I agree with you on Benchmade too, just excellent quality knives. My next pickup will probably be another Benchmade.

Received my launch 2 days ago, very nice knife! It is the sharpest out of the box knife I have ever received, more like a razor then a knife!

I have 2 ,high end, benchmade knifes that weren't this sharp!

I am digging the thing! I have cut some pressure hose, polymer feed lines and assorted other work-related things over the course of the last few days--I could still shave with it, were I so inclined....

The pocket clip stays put--can't say the same about my poor Benchmade, but it has had a rough life and we shall see if this Kershaw can habg with the Benchy service record over the long haul

So far, I am pleased and impressed....
