Been a while since I posted on this forum, but I just picked up a Kahr CM-9 and figured I would share my first range trip with it.

Shot about 50 rounds on this target, shot 200 rounds total. Great gun, no problems what so ever. Still need a bit of range time with it as you can see:

Nice.
I have the same problem when changing from my single action XD to my double action pf9 I group my shots to the left a bit. It takes some getting used to the DA trigger. If I concentrate on a slow consistent, straight back trigger pull I hit dead center.

Yeah, hopefully I can get to the range a little more often so I can work on going back and forth so I can get a feel for each trigger type. After that than I have to get used to the Bodyguard 380's trigger, put another 200 through it on a different target and it was even worse left.

Yes they do, I love this little pistol so far.

I just ordered a CM9, actually! Looks good, I hope my CM9 works out well too :)

May I ask what ammo you shot through it?

Also, +1 on the needing to concentrate with longer trigger pulls. With a shorter trigger, you can sometimes get away with a bit more "slapping." Longer DA pulls will show you the error of your ways (assuming the trigger pull itself is smooth, otherwise a gritty, crappy DA trigger doesn't reveal much except how bad the trigger is).

Switching from my XD to my Diamondback 380 took some getting used to. Whenever I'd switch back to my XD, I'd have the pistol going off unexpectedly (downrange, of course), because the trigger would break far, far, far before I was expecting it to. But with practice, I can go back and forth a bit more competently now. But still, only practice helps.

I bought my CM9 to replace my DB380, though, so I'll have to start practicing with the CM9 once it comes in.

I'm looking forward to joining the Kahr family :)

You won't be disappointed!

I was using Federal 115gr FMJ. Walmart for 10 bucks per 50 rounds.

Could be double taps, but a few look like they keyholed?

hmm, I see what your seeing in the picture but I never thought keyholeing so I did't look for it while shooting. hmm. I'll go with double taps, and look for it more when I put the rest of the ammo I bought through it. I wanted to shoot this gun a little more before I put it in rotation so this will be something I look at before deciding to.

Shot another 100 rounds today, here is my last target of the day at 21 feet. I was running late from lunch and was rushing so this is the only picture that came out well enough to see. Still shooting the Federal 115gr FMJ.

Oh and no sign of keyholeing this time around.

Good to hear. I never had keyholes either, but looks like typical Kahr gold.

So it's been about a week or so since I got to the range again. I finished off the stack of ammo that I had bought with the gun. 400 rounds total I believe of the Federal.

Same old same old by now I guess.

However I figured I would put the ammo that I have been carrying since it came out. Hornady Critical Defense...

Not good ... This ammo was great out of my XDSC and Glock 26 .. fails miserably out of this pistol. Out of six full magazines the last round of the mag just didn't have the oomph needed to lock the slide back and I had three jams and two FTE... Guess the gun just can't run that round reliably... Looks like I am going to have to find a good defense round that fires reliably before I start carrying this pistol.

Good damn thing you found that out regarding your carry ammo. Give Gold Dot a try.

I'm glad you posted. I'm considering a CM9 very hard. Seems like a lot of guys on here are getting them.

Yes I was a little shocked that I pretty much shot my whole collection of the ammo I had stocked up just to see if it could be worked out. No such luck but oh well. I have heard good things about Gold Dot so I will probably go that route.

You will not be disappointed if you do decide to go with the CM-9. IMHO the gun is gold.

There is a lot of bad press out there with the Critical Defense not feeding, having bad primers that won't ignight, and your low power issue as well.

I have only used it in .380 in a Ruger LCP, but it has been totally reliable there.

Glad you tested it at the range, it is what ALL people should do before carrying it for defense.
Might try some Federal HST or Winchester Ranger-T, CorBon DPX.

I had no idea about the bad press surrounding that ammo. will have to look into that. Thanks for the recommendations too, will look into those as well and see which runs the best.

So been shooting this gun about once a week since I got it ... probably have upwards to 1000 rounds through it at least. Shoots like a champ and I solved the SD ammo selection. It eats up Winchester ammo so that is what I use now.

However I wanted to post this picture on here for some one to take a look at. The front of the frame seems to bulge out to the outside and I don't know if it was like this from the get go, if it's supposed to be like this or if something is wrong with the frame. So someone who has a CM9 can you look to see if it's the same or do I have a bad frame mold? Could it be dangerous if it is bad?

Here is the picture:
