OK guys. I have felt like crap since I couldn't be at the XD shoot with old school in Illinois. I have wondered the possibility of postin a date for dudes to show up at the local range right down the road from me, and havin a good ole time.
I'm just a nobody out in nowhere'sville....hurtin to conversate with people that's got the XD experience in em. I wouldn't be able to host lunch for everybody or a cool t-shirt, or offer anything cool like that, but the range right down the road open for everybody and anybody bothers me all the time.
All I could do is invite some ppl to come shoot. To give some ppl the idea of goin to somewhere they've never been, and cappin a few hundred rounds.....then off to Matt's house for whatever. A cookout or somethin.
It gets mighty old goin to the range only to sit and shoot by myself........and only possibly talk with Joe dude that happens to be there.
It bothers me as well to read license plates at the range from peeps all over the place....hundreds of miles away.
I dunno yall....havin this public resource all to myself for the last 20 years sucks sometimes. It don't cost a dime to use this place......just might have to wait till a range opens up. course it's OK to shoot next to the guy already there.
Any thoughts???

I'm up for it. I am on the IN/IL line due west of Indy and feel the same way. I have been meaning to go to the Lafayette range some time but it gets old going by yourself

Just let me know when and where. I'm willing to go about 2 hours for some conversation and shooting

I'm 3hrs from Cincinnati or Louisville and I'd be willing to travel that far most likely, given it doesn't conflict with USPSA match dates :)

If you want to add a little spice to your life and you're near Sellersburg (north of Louisville), you could try Silver Creek, there's tons of competitive shooting down there that you could get into :)

Wow. I didn't even think they're were this many ppl with the XD itch this close.
I dunno...maybe it was a bad idea, since they're several problems that come to my mind.
One that it's a public range, and knowin my luck it'd be already packed whenever my XD buds come. Then we'd all be standin around goin "ok fatmatt this really sucks I just drove xxx for this?" I doubt if the range could be reserved unless we got there first and held ppl off with sticks.
2. Since it's a DNR range..no crazy full auto weapons are allowed etc...however very seldom do ppl raise hell bout "bein bad"
3. I'm just a lonely dude lookin for some peeps to go shootin with.....then what? I gotta small $10 grill that kicks ass with just me and the kids....but I'd have trouble bein polite and bein worried about bein able to "entertain" everybody when the ammo runs out or the range closes. I've gotta good sized back yard, but still live at the momma's place right now etc...blahblahblah gotta ask permission etc. blah
4. There is only one short range here....30yrds. with only 2 tables. But it goes up to 200yrds.....so anyone with rifles would have hella time
That's all I can think of right now.
I dunno guys....I can't help but wanna share my special place with you all. "Goin to the range" for me involves packin up a few things , and drivin 5 minutes. Instead of havin to pay to shoot...or be in some kinda club.
The place I'm talkin about is here..........scroll down for pics

I don't see any reason why it won't work. If everybody gets there early enough.

As far as a place to go later or for food, most of these places have picnic areas where we could cook hot dogs. Half the people could bring hot dogs the other half bring buns and chips, everybody bring what they want to drink.

If we need more space for shooters we could try Eagle Creek Range on the west side of Indy. Afterwards we could all meet someplace inside the park (Eagle Creek). The range is $10 for all day and the park is $4 per car.

If anyone is a member at MCF&G they can take guests for $5 each. WE'd have to pick a day they didn't have some sort of match though.

If we can pick a date and place I can attend, I would be happy to have Pistol-Gear supply the food and drink, if someone can help with the coordination of the event. What do you think?

The closer the Central Indiana the better for me.
