I wish I could mix my glock, and my XD

or Springfield should just make a compact XD

I love the size of my G19, and the finish on the slide, I also love the feel of the glock.
however, I wish the Glock had the XD's mag release, slide release, take down ease, and overall solidness.

The XD9 is more comparable to a G17, I wish they made one just a wee bit smaller.

he wants an in between size like the Glock 19. I agree. They don't make just a compact, only a sub-compact (i.e. waaaay to small for me).

Personally I only like full frame guns, well maybe my Makarov is an exception. :wink:
I have read this before. people wishing for a G19 sized XD. I have yet to figure it out, The slide length of the XD service and the G19 is almost identical. The XD has 1\2 inch longer grip. Anyone who thinks the grip of the G19 is better than the XD needs to have thier head examined.(and yes I have both the XD service and a G19)

You read my mind! I shot alot of the g19 at the range before purchasing my xd40 service and its size is pretty similar to the 19 as it is that i don't really see any significant reason to be looking for something smaller. IN regards to SA ever releasing a model with such a minor difference in slide length, i think it may be doubtful. Although, after more expansion of the xd line, it would be fairly inexpensive for SA to release the service model with a shortened grip to come closer in grip length to the sc which would reduce printing and meet that demand that has been making people chop their service models down as we've been seeing some of lately on this board.

wow, no need to get personal. Glock makes a 17, 19, and 26 for a reason...people like me prefer one size over the other. Sorry you feel my preference is wrong.

Despite the fact that I gave Glock the "Funky Grip of the Year" award, I concur. Apparently people like it, or else it wouldn't be selling like it does. I don't, and thus, haven't bought one. Simple enough.
Yeah, but I wouldn't trade the XD's trigger or grip angle for those of the Glock line.

I would, however, like to have a few 1911 traits incorporated into my XD, like a 45ACP chambering, the slimmer grip and a single stack 45ACP magazine.

That said, I like my XD-40 as-is.

People can become accustomed to a grip even though it doesnt fit them that well to begin with. in the case of the Glock I think the popularity is due to the fact the Glock is an outstanding pistol ( whose only glaring weakness is the grip angle)

And many think the 1\2 inch shorter grip of the glock makes it easier to conceal. But the reality is 1\2 difference in length poses NO significant differences in concealment. But that 1\2 inch longer grip and better grip angle can make a significant difference in the ability to shoot the weapon quickly and accurately under stress.
I think most people that love Glocks are people that started out ther "pistol-shooting lives" with the thing. Otherwise, how do you explain the Glock fanatics not being bothered by the grip angle? If you know nothing else...it probably feels fine, but if you grew up shooting 1911s, Hi-Powers and CZs, the Glock grip angle will drive you nuts and feels really wierd (as it did for me).

It all comes down to personal preference. My first firearm was the XD subcompact. I realize that my opinion is definately not the majority in here, but I prefer the Glocks grip.

I loved my XD, I'm in no way bashing them, and did not intend to start any kind of war here. I just wish they offered a compact pistol with a 4" barrel, then I would abandon the glock completely.
I dont understand what Ant is trying to say. Am I the only one? The Tactical is the full size, the Service is the compact and the Subcompact is well a Subcompact.

Your not the the only one Bob!

Springfield makes the XD in, full, compact and sub. Glock also makes full, compact and sub. I can understand that there are probably minimul differences between the Glock and XD models dimension wise, but not enough to bitch about.
basically, its like this

glock 17 = xd9

glock 19 = what I wish springfield made

glock 26 = xdsc9

man, this is the last time I post when I'm drunk :shock:
But if you go to both websites and compare the numbers the G17 (slightly smaller) is comparible to the XD Tactical, the G19 is comparible to the XD service............ Need I go on?
if you want a 4" barrel with an SC grip, then have a Service cut down like a few others have done here and I am planning to do this summer.
The compact is a "tweener" size.

G17L (longslide) = tactical
G17 = service
G19 = ?
G26 = sc

The G17 and XD Service are similar in size. People like the G19 size because it can work as a Service pistol but the slightly smaller dimensions make it easier to conceal. The SC size pistol is too small to be used as a service gun and the service gun size (although it can be concealed) doesn't hide as well.
