HS-2000 is what IM Metal calls the XD in Croatia (and the rest of the world for that matter). Springfield is the one that named it XD.

If you don't mind me asking...what did you pay? Also...any chance you could post a pic or two?

Is the grip smooth on the sides or textured?
The XD is textured.

Does the slide have serrations on the front to rack the slide, or just in back?
The XD has serrations in the front as well as back.

These are a couple things that I could come up with off of the top of my head....not sure about either though.

Does the Hs have the accessory rail like the XD for lights and lasers?
The most recent generation (Gen. 3?) does have the accessory rail. The Gen. 1 did not. I can't remember if the Gen. 2 models did or not. James would know.

HS2K - Gen 1 Rear Slide Serations only, Gen 2 Front
and rear serations, Gen 3 just like Gen 2, but has
the rail for attachments and accessories.

Gen 3 is identical to the modern day XD (Gen 1).

THATS 1 DIFFERENCE!!
You have a generation 1 HS2000. The first ones to be imported. Internally, they are the same. Any difference is external.
Here's my gen1 HS2000 (with NP3 from Robar):
