Your bore brush won't hold the solvent very well with only the metal bristles trying to hold the chemicals. The bristles will poke through the thin patch material and will be able to loosen any caked on gunk in the bore. The patch will also act as a sort of "mop" to carry the gunk away. Don't forget to change patches a few times during the process so you don't end up re-depositing the stuff you are trying to get rid of.dmcblaster said:Why would you wrap a solvent soaked patch around your bore brush? Doesnt a bore brush clean your rifling and anything else thats in your bore? How can it do that if its wrapped with a patch? Ive seen this a few times now and was wondering.
