Hogue grip # for XDm 10mm 4.5 inch

1071 Views 42 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Bill in Montana
I want to get a Hogue or Pachmeyer grip for my 10mm XDm in FDE to match the pistol, 4.5 inch barrel. Will the Hogue 17303 fit? It’s not clear.

One call to Hogue tech support said yes, the response to an email said no, and on their website they show it fitting a 45acp but fitting a bit lower than the trigger guard.

I have a Hogue on my P365 which I like, and am not familiar with the Pachmeyer grips.

Thanks.

As some Springfield Armory pistols have a grip safeties they do not make a specific grip,
There is another solution that may work for you?
As you can see, the grip safety is still exposed.

Thanks. My screen name change I asked for happened!

I went into a gun shop who said if a rubber grip fits the 45 acp it has the same size frame as 10mm. Looking at the Hogue web site, this one should work. I’d like the finger swells on the front.

Palmetto State Armory, $19 with shipping. I’ll post picture if it fits.

Despite multiple emails from Hogue saying it would not fit, with a little trimming on the bottom- it fits. Model 17303 in desert tan is close enough to the factory fde.

I want to keep the top well below the safety so if it does slide upwards, it will not interfere with the safety.

As far as the bottom, as a friend of my son told me when we were hunting ducks at Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge , “there’s no points for pretty out here, Bill”. As my defensive weapon for grizzers here in Montana (bear spray doesn’t work if the wind is swirling or in your face), it’s between me, the beast and meeting Jesus long before I die of old age.

I hope this helps somebody else out.

For "Afro-engineering" it looks awesome.

Question: what if you got a regular grip and just slide over the grip safety?

If that works than you can get a rubber grip with a beaver tail?
It took me a few seconds to figure out Afro-engineering!

I don’t know if Hogue sells a grip with a beavertail. That’s what I have on my P365.

Their tech support discouraged that saying it might rip if I tried.

Yes, I use a Hogue grip with beavertail for my Ruger "Security 9" on my Sig P-365 and it works perfect.
I also use a Hogue grip for a shotgun grip for one of those shotguns with a slanted handgrip on my slanted foregrip on my AR.

I can understand a company's declaimers on using other than they specifically specify,

I am trying to find a 45/10mm grip of double ramp that may be " Afro-engineered" in my XDm 10mm compact with 11rd mags or even 16rd mags with sleeves?
I’d order one of them and modify it to fit. 17303 is desert tan, it comes in other colors on amazon. For the price, it’s not a big risk. I liked the Hogue rubber feel instead of a tape with texture/stipple.

I wonder if this Hogue grip could fit on my SA XDm 10mm with its thicker mag like a glock 40 10mm?
It may take some doing and need trimming but it looks like it may work?

I would advise against doing it. Why?

The rubber in the beavertail to form the curve is thicker than the sides of the grip. I’m sure you can cut it with a razor. You probably can’t fully depress the safety below the level of the grip.

I wouldn’t risk getting working somehow, shifting in a stress situation and you find yourself with a non functioning wespon.

Post what you decide, enquiring minds are wondering.

When you cannot find what you are looking for maybe "Afro Engineering" will do just fine.

While all slip-ons add so much extra thick rubber, stick-ons are not always the answer either.
How about Bomeek sleeve Shotgun shockwave?

Hear me out: They are thin stretchable rubber, easy to trim if needed, do not slip once installed and cheap.

This is that same Rubber sleeve on my AR pistol grip.

A double stack 45/10mm is thick for my female hands but I am going to try this Rubber Sleeve, and not only on my SA XDm 10mm compact but on other firearms I own.

If you like it on your AR, see if it fits your pistols.

Good shooting!

I should receive them in 11 days.

Yes the rubber sleeve is awesome on my AR grip and did not make grip too fat.

Ok, I got the two rubber slip-on today and installed them on my XDm Elite 10mm compact and my Sig P-365 xl

I need to get new razor blades before I cut them.
At least you know they can work and soon cut to match grip frame.

Nice! Post when you’ve trimmed it.

My concern would be it interfering with the grip safety.

I cut rubber to frame.

I do not see any way for the grip safety to be an issue?

I usually goto my range on Wed as ladies range time free.
It is a bit of a drive so I do not go as often as I like.

While the rubber is thinner it still increases the circumference a bit for my smaller hands.

It appears from the picture you posted the sleeve is over the the lower 1/2 of the safety and pushing it into the ‘firing’ position. It can not move outwards to the ‘safe’ position.

Exactly, grip safety is always compressed. I still have trigger safety that must be engaged to fire.

I did the same with my Colt combat commander 45 and Cold Delta Elite 10mm with their grip safeties.

My Sigs P320 compact and P365 xl both do not even have manual safeties.
