Does anyone know how many features and modifications have been made to the XD since its inception as the HS2000?

Also, I read an article recently whose author favored the recoil of the Glock over the XD. He said rightly that the higher the slide is over the hand the greater the muzzle flip. This, however, was not my personal experience. Can anyone tell me why I had an easier time controlling the gun and reacquiring the target with the XD than the Glock (full size)? Has anyone else had this experience?

Did both guns have the same weight recoil spring, and the same load?
Spring weight has a lot to do with the preceived recoil.
It's not the height of the slide above the hand, it's the height of the axis of the bore above your hand that affectes muzzle flip. The lower the axis is to the top of your hand the less muzzle flip, if you look at an olympic free pistol you will see that the bore is about in line with the trigger. It is just a 22 but there is still almost no recoil at all.
