I just purchased a XD 5" in 9mm. I disassembled it once according to the instructions in the manual. I am attempting to do it again, but the slide won't come off the frame even though the lever is up and I'm holding down the trigger. Did I assemble it wrong? Thanks for you help.

The mag is out and the safties are depressed. I cannot figure out what it is. I assume i put it together correctly. Could I have put the recoil spring in wrong? It says take care when assembling a 5" because the don't have a captive recoil system. Would this cause it to lock like this?

Nevermind I got it. I don't know what I was doing differnetly. I took a break and came back and it worked. Thanks for the help. Sorry about the false alarm.

I think I see what you are talking about.. the barell does seem to be pressed towards the lower end of the slide when looking at it from the one angle that nobody should look at a gun from.. that's normal.

That's what I was talking about. I did not know it wasn't normal. But I took a look at some pictures from the SA site and it looked the same. Thanks for your help.

I wasn't dry-firing it. I don't know why I didn't this time and I had all the previous times . oh well. Thanks for helping a newb.
