Greetings all,

Turn 21 not long ago, and the first big purchase I did was obtain my very first handgun. A XD 40!!!! I have had it for a week and have put around 400 rounds into it. I cannot get enough. I was thinking about duracoating the slide gun blue or matte black.. I cannot decide I will post when I get the chance.

Welcome, first good choice on the XD40, second choice, don't use Dura coat. What color is the slide now??

Why would you want to put black over black.. sheen? I have heard more bad stories about Dura coat than good. However, the price is good. I have seen nice pics of Dura coat, but later to see pics of pealing, chipping, scratching etc.. Brownells has a wide selection on "home" coatings... I guess if if someone has done it a lot, maybe they have gotten really good with it.. IMHO.
