With the help of this board I've made my decision to be purchasing a new XD 40 this coming weekend.
It wasn't an easy choice I've been kinda kicking myself for missing out on a sig 226 also a 40 off of gunbroker.com. (price is lots more now)

I was also looking at the Glock 23 so I also have to thank the guys at glock talk sending me here on a link about the xd 40.

Can't wait for this weekend and sometime to go make lots of noise and lots of holes in some paper.

Welcone to XD land. Those are some tough choices you listed there. You'll be happy with the 40 XD.

main reason I went with the xd was that I could get the 4" bi tone for about 100.00 cheaper than the others.

just cant wait to go shooting again.

Welcome Prof!

I am glad you were able to make a choice that you are happy with. I also was interested in your user-name.

Prof Anarcho

Are you a proffessor of elements of both anarchist and transhumanist thought, or are/were you a narcotics officer who can't spell, and left academia because of your spelling?.. I just think about these kinds of things! LOL

Have fun..

I have the xd40 in a bitone service model and i love mine. I've put 1100 rds through mine and its great. I also put in a dons guide rod which does help a bit with the recoil. YOu may consider looking into that.

So the plan for today is:
1 jump in car and drive 90 miles to gunstore which has my xd-40.
2 purchase lots and lots of ammo and other accessories.
3 jump in car and drive to friends to pick up his new Browning buckmark 22
4 while at friends clean new guns
5 jump in car drive 10 miles to range
6 see how many holes we can put in some pieces of paper.
7 call it a day get dinner talk about girls, guns and cars (man those are lots expensive hobbies.)

As for the Nick Name its actually kinda in honor of one of my good friends while growing up. We used to play a role playing game called Traveller. My friend created this non player character (a character that was controlled by the game master) This character's name was Prof Anarcho. He managed to fix just about anything he came across. Only catch was that it he would modify the thing so much and complicate the operation of it that only he would be able to use it. (Lost a spaceship to the dude)
Anyway back in the commadore 64 days and computer bbs systems there was a game called tradewars. I had to reincarnate this character. Ever since its been an easy name to use on most forums and IM type things.

Wow........I have a completely different view of you now. Not that it matters, but what I imagine you may look like in real life changed a bit after reading that.

Good choice on the XD by the way. I am not a regular here but I have one of the first XD 40's from when SA first bought HS2000 factory(or whatever they did) and it is still going strong.

I recently returned here when I bought my XD 40 SC, to catch up on the latest XD stuff.

Way awesome gun.
Well I did it I got my happy xd40 bitone this weekend. The only problems that Iv'e ran across so far are.

1 stupid me didnt buy enough ammo before going to the range. (wondering why wwb only comes in boxes of 100 at walmart)
2 stupider took too long trying to make up my mind on which one to get.
(glock, Sig, XD)
3 really stupid me for not carefully reading the addiction warnings from dtjobrien and fatmatt1981(sitting at work wishing I could be at the range)
4 now I need to get a dillon progressive reloader

oh well there goes my next paycheck.
anyone know how to become an ammo tester for PMC or Winchester
