I just got back from the local gun shop, and they only have a XD-9 in plain black. The guy called 4 different places and they couldn't find one to order for me. Soooo...do I wait for them to find one, or go ahead and just get the XD-9(cheaper ammo) and have it finished to the color I want??
They're askin somethin like $475.00 for the XD-9, new in the box. Which is kinda weird bein I bought my Xd-40 from the same place and it was only $425.
Anyways, some helpful advice would be helful![]()

What's wrong with 9mm? Thats the one I'm getting, and not because I'm being forced to by circumstance.cvann said:BarSto and most other manufacturers do not make a 9mm to 357 or 40 conversion, only the bigger calibers can downsize to the 9. If you buy 9, you're stuck with it, and everyone else will long cock you with 357's, 40's and 45's. You'll regret it.
I don't want to write a book, so check out the ballistics on the web. 357 sig is very close to 357 Magnum in ballistics from a 4" revolver. 40 s&w packs similar punch (a little slower, but same energy due to weight). Both of these will allow you to hunt small to medium thin skinned game and be a defensive load. 9mm is great for buying a case and spending an afternoon shooting it up. It's just at the low end of defensive cartridge spectrum. The NRA CCW book, NRA GUIDE TO THE BASICS OF PERSONAL PROTECTION IN THE HOME reads, 'As a broad generalization, most firearm authorities recommend a minimum of 9 mm Parabellum (also known as 9 mm Para, 9 mm Luger, or 9X19 mm) for semi-automatic pistols, and .38 Special for revolvers.' It just makes more sense to me to buy the 357 or 40, so you can buy a conversion barrel for $150 and make it a 9 whenever you want to shoot cheap. The 9's will not convert up to 357 or 40.Acerimmer said:What's wrong with 9mm?
