Hi All:

I shoot my XD a lot, and the barrel hood is showing wear. Was thinking about replacing the barrel with a stainless steel unit, rather than the stock blued. Strictly for looks. Any thoughts / comments? Is there an aftermarket stainless replacement, or barrel / slide combo, ported maybe?

Also (and this might be a stupid question, but I am completely new to the concept of weapon modification - always just shot what came out of the box), as I am looking to improve speed shooting accuracy, what can I accomplish by changing the guide rod / spring assembly in my XD?

Changing the guide rod to Dons will enable you to use different springs. The use of different springs allows you to change the recoil characteristics. Using a higher pound spring will reduce felt recoil. The factory spring is 18 lb. Using a 22lb or 24lb will make it seem as though the gun has less recoil.

Thanks a bunch. Just ordered the Don's Rod and Spring (22#) combo from PistolGear. Appreciate the advice.
