Just something I'd like to mention in case no one has heard this, but there was a Greek Orthodox Church that was severely damaged/destroyed when the WTC towers fell. Ever since then, the Church has been trying to get NYC approval to rebuild it, and it has been thus far denied for the past nine years. Just some food for thought...

This is false. The church is approved to build on the land their church was. They want to build a new church 4 times the size and want to trade and buy land from the port authority. There are problems with that project and the new ground zero project so they denied the church. The church would have no issues if they wanted to build on the original plot.

i have no issue with them wanting to build a mosque, but do it somewhere else. two blocks away might as well be right next door, it's the same neighborhood (yes, we have those in new york). i don't think the city should be blocking it though, but people of the are certainly have the right to and it's up to them if they will do so.

Sure they are aloud to expand but they dont have the property the property the church was on wasnt big enough. They need 4 times as much they want the port authorities property. But their time line for building will set back the ground zero project or something along those lines so it was denied. Not because it was a church and you think everyone is against christians. Big difference they still have there original property and can build on it. Things get denied by zoning all the time its not because its a church. They can find a suitable site and pay for it but themselves no one is stopping them. They want a deal on the land.

The big problem is not enough republican or conservative talk show hosts are against their project. If the Greeks could get Beck to speak out against them, Bloomberg would fast track the request. IMO.
