has anyone on here done the grip bob themselves?

I've got a CD Armscor 5" that I'm tossing the idea around on. Any concerns I should have on doing this to a cast frame? And recommended bobbed mainspring housings to use?

hell, the gun was bought for 250 bucks so I might just make this into a fun project and refinish it, maybe put some better sights on it too. It can be a learning experience! maybe do something to the front strap for better grip purchase before I refinish it as well.

Edit: Ha! I forgot the front site is dovetailed and not staked on this one...that'll maybe make a sight change a little bit easier..

Ed Brown makes several different bobtail MSH's. Some flat, checked, chain link, stainless, blued, etc. I would look at those first. should be ab;e to get them at Brownells or Midway. I think both of those sites should also have the jig/pattern to modify the frame as well.

good luck and make sure to post pics of the end result.

It's been done before. Most people who have done it recommend using the jig. The Ed Brown MSH is the way to go.
