Alright, I'm new to this forum but have been shooting for 20 years, handguns, rifles, shotguns, I own and shoot them all.
I have been putting off the purchase of an XD to see if they would come out with a .45ACP and just to see how the reliabilty and durability of the pistol panned out.
So, I get the latest issue of Handguns ragazine which is delivered to my door and what do I see but an article on the XD and a 20,000 round test. If you believe everything you read, the gun did not have a single failure in the 20K, the last 1K + the gun was frozen, submerged in water, buried in mud etc..etc... No failures according to the writter.
So now I'm sufficiently curious and I'm going to by one, they are cheap enough, I've wasted more than $425. on worse things. So anyway.....
I have no experience with the .45GAP. I'd like to try one but I'm also wondering if I shouldn't just go with the old standby .40S&W. I want a 4" gun so I'm leaning .40 because I have a feeling the 880fps they claim from the .45GAP is probably from a 5" barrel.
Who's got experience with the .45GAP? Does this round cause significant muzzle flip? How about ammo availability? How about the availability of the XD chambered for the round. I know they are pretty new. I was in a shop today that had 'em 9mm and .40 but no .45GAP. Makes me wonder.
