Liked my recently purchased XD-40 Tactical so much I went out and bought another for SO. I was improving with 1st pistol--about 500 rounds through it, no malfunctions, grouping a little low left at 50 feet--no rest, just offhand, two hand grip. The new one--out of the box--same 8" target, same sight picture, sight alignment, same ammo, groups about 2" tighter and slightly high at 12 o'clock. I figured the low left was finger position, trigger pull, anticipating recoil et cetera, but why would the new one shoot a tighter group and in different quadrant of target? Shouldn't factory sights be a little closer on 2 identical guns? I want to upgrade to an adjustable rear sight, just haven't decided which one. Suggestions--nothing elaborate--just windage and elevation. Thanks

It's in your head.

You want to think the newer gun will shoot better than the old one, so subconsciously you are more relaxed and have more refined control.

I do this every time with a new golf club. The first few times I swing it, the ball is straight and far. After a few holes I can't hit it better than the last one.
