I've noticed more than one place that has had super-low prices on Win Ranger .40 S&W. BUt it's always the .40 though and never the 9mm and .45. I guess the .40 doesn't move as much.

I went ahead and ordered a case of the .40S&W that
was advertised from the site above. They are in Pa.
and I have never heard of them before. They look
reliable as their site is set up for 128-bit encryp.

I am somewhat confused however on the Winchester
ammo. Please look this guide over (about 3.5meg PDF)

http://www.winchester.com/lawenforcement/pdf/le2004_productguide.pdf

and here I am puzzled as the ammo is used as target
practice stuff and it looks like they use Speer Gold Dot
as duty/carry ammo.

http://www.sanantonio.gov/pgs/pdf/tabs/A308Tab04.pdf

I was under the impression that ALL Winchester LEO only
ammo was for duty/carry. If the RA40155HP 40 S & W 155
Jacketed Hollow Point is used for practice, damn, those
taxpayers are sure spending a bundle for ammo spent
downrange. At least with the quantities that they order,
the LEOs are training on the range.

HeHe! They are not much into .223/5.56Nato either with a
dinky 20,000 rounds bid, unless they have a lot in storage
like some people I know.

Thanks Ed for the pdf info. 1210/502 form a 4" . Can't tell if they're bonded or not nor how well they expand in different media but still a good price for a HP.

James, I looked again and on line 8. Training Ammo -

8 .40 Smith & Wesson Training Ammunition 1,080,000 Rounds
Price Per M No Bid $123.17 $178.62 $125.99
Price Total $133,023.60 $192,909.60 $136,069.20
Rounds Per Case 1000 1000 500
Manufacturer & No. 53957 CC1/Speer 53957 RA40155HP

shows the RA40155HP at $125.99 per 1000 rounds for
training purposes. Still only 12.5 cents cents a round.
Not bad. I think if I were the PO, and knew anything
about ammo, I would have bought the RA40155HP.
Now, this was several years ago, as witnessed by the
date on the pdf form.

Update: 09-15-05, 2:00PM EDST, UPS just left
after I signed for 500 rounds of the above mentioned
.40S&W ammo.

I placed my order over the net on 09-10 and
received it five days later. That is what I call
pretty good service, by the seller and by UPS.

By the case (500 rounds) it is identified as
WINQ4348) and has 10 fifty round boxes per.
The round is .40S&W (RA40155HP). I will shoot
a box, if I think about taking it, the next trip to
the range. Works out to right at .25 cents per
round. Not too shabby, considering it can be
your practice or carry ammo at that price.

By the way, on GT, someone said that they were
not making this particular ammo any longer. I
do not know what is taking it's place, but whatever
it is, it has to be darn good stuff to replace it's
predisessor.

Load them up and shoot what you got.

$12.54/box shipped (at the case price) sounds like a really good deal to me.

I wish they had it in 357 Sig for that cheap.
hal.9000, I believe if you look at Snake's site,
you will find the WinClean at less than $100 per
500 rounds in .357SIG. Now that is a good price
also.
