Found a good deal on 124g 9mm hollowpoints. My question...is the +P higher pressure load that much superior to warrant passing on the standard round and paying extra? +P Gold Dots are 1220 Muzzle Velocity and 410 Muzzle Energy vs 1150/364.

I've heard stories from both sides, one guy said go for the more powerful round, that the +P has similar ballistics as a 40 (1025 MV/420ME)...the other had the argument that the standard pressure will feel closer to your practice ammo. I guess if you don't practice with +P alot the recoil might catch you by surprise.

What would you recommend?

after shooting wwb, and gold dot +P 124 back to back, I have to say I did not even notice a difference in recoil. I would recommend going with the +P

I guess I'll try a couple boxes of both before I place a bulk order. if the +P 9mm doesn't feel that much different, or even a little harder it will be worth it for the added performance. I was just wondering if anyone had any info or experience with the standard stuff. Does LE and Military use it? I saw it for $90 for 250 rounds, they said it was a cancelled navy SEAL order.

Thanks

+P all the way. On days I'm packing my XD it's loaded with the 124gr +P gold dots. I have fired a hundred rounds or so of them in practice and never had a malfunction either.
